I want to get a gamepad for my PC, so i was looking at getting a xbox 360 controller, has anyone used theirs on the PC? Any recommendations for a different gamepad? Does anyone even use a gamepad on the PC?

Want to use it to play mirrors edge and GTA IV that I got got 12.50 in the steam xmas sale, seems like a gamepad would be better than the keyboard!

360 is definitely the best choice for modern games. Also get a Logitech Cordless RumblePad 2 if you play emulated stuff that needs a working d-pad.

Cool, thanks guys, the only thing that confuses me know is, you can buy an xbox 360 controller, or for $30 more a xbox 360 controller for windows. It seems the only difference is that the one for windows comes with a cd with some software that you can download from microsoft anyway. Has anyone used the controller that came with their xbox with their pc? I'm pretty sure they're identical and the extra price for the driver cd seems pretty excessive.

the 360 controller for windows comes with a wireless reciever. Just the 360 controller has no wireless reciever and is just for the console. The wired 360 controller works with anything.
And yes it works perfectly right away in Vista/7

For some reason my computer doesn't like my official xbox controller and only recognizes my knock off controller. Weird.

bought a wired xbox controller and it works great, windows found the drives itself, xo setup required.

Try a Novint Falcon. It's the most amazing toy, even if it doesn't work on enough games yet.
